The Academy at King offers financial aid for students who demonstrate the need for tuition assistance at The Academy. For the 2008-2009 school year, The Academy is fortunate to have a significant amount of financial aid to be awarded. Financial aid packages are based solely on need and will be assessed on an individual basis. Awards may range from approximately 25% to 90% of the yearly tuition cost for the school year. No awards are based on talents of the applicants.
An objective analysis of family financial information will be obtained through School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). This service has been owned by the National Association for Independent Schools (NAIS) for over 40 years and subscribes over 2,000 private schools and other organizations across the country and abroad.
Families of students who have been accepted to The Academy at King can submit a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) to SSS. The PFS can be filed online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss or a paper copy may be requested from The Academy and mailed to SSS. There is a fee of $22 for analysis of the online version of the PFS and a fee of $24 for analysis of the paper application.
Online resources through SSS are available to assist parents in completing the PFS, including various supplemental forms and worksheets and a supplemental form for business or farm owners and tax forms annotated to cross-reference the SSS materials.
The financial statement provided by parents will be analyzed by SSS, and a report showing the results of their calculations, a recommended “Estimated Family Contribution”, and other information and guidance will be sent to the Financial Aid Committee at The Academy at King. Members of the committee will use this information from SSS to determine how the available financial aid will be distributed.
